Hello to all my friends and family, and to all those new friends and family that I have not yet had the pleasure of meeting in the DA community. I'm just a college kid who has been displaced from the suburbs, and who is currently going to school at a college surrounded by cornfields.

A little about me... First and foremost I am a Christian, and am in love with my Savior, Jesus Christ. I will not force my beliefs on anyone, because everyone can and should thoughtfully and carefully make their own decisions about the way they live their life. However, in an effort to be a part of that thinking process, I make myself available if anyone wants to know about my King, and how he plays the most important role in both my life and in my art.

Now some other fun facts that make me who I am. I grew up all my life in the same house that I go home to on school breaks. That's right, I have never had to "move," (unless you count moving away to college). I was home schooled, and loved every minute of it (other than the few times I wished that my dad was not the principal). I am currently in college as an Industrial Design major. This choice of major fit several parts of my personality:

1) my fascination with how things work and especially how humans interact with machines (must read: Donald Norman's famous book- The Design of Everyday Things),

2) my seemingly uncontrollable interest in the tiny details of everything,

3) my love of aesthetics and passion for the truly beautiful (this also relates to my faith... ask me about it, and I may write a journal some time... I will at least try to reply to your post),

4) my love of drawing.

I have an overabundance of hobbies, and love them all, even though I have absolutely not enough time for most them. I love photography, origami, Star Trek, biking, singing, and playing music on the piano and violin (currently working on traditional Irish session music, if there are any session players out there). However, I am planning on making this new DA "hobby" somewhat more serious than the others, since I am going to school for a job in the art world. I believe it will be good practice in getting my work "out there" on a regular basis.

TWO IMPORTANT PIECES OF BUSINESS FOR ALL VIEWERS. First, as I post things up here, please feel free to enjoy my drawings/photos/any kind of art I put up, but please do not use these in your own work without getting permission first. For example, most of my photos are probably fair game to be downloaded, so please feel free, but if you want to use my art as either material or reference for a project, please let me know first. I would like to know where my art is going, and what it is inspiring! Just FYI, I'm a little busy but I'm not a mean guy, so unless a piece is particularly special to me, just wait a little for my answer, and I will likely agree to let you use it.

Second, I really appreciate constructive criticism! I welcome opinionated people to my channel (and their opinions). In fact, while I don't mind some praise, the amount of "praise" that is pored out every single day on DA is almost too much, and even shows up on work that is not that great, so I don't just want happy comments. That said, I would much prefer that criticism given on my art be helpful... not just "This is crappy, how did you take such a crappy photo!"... rather I would prefer something that would help me take better photos, such as "Nice subject matter, but it's kind of a sickly green color. Have you color corrected this photo yet?" Talking to me like this, and treating me like a real person who is trying to improve his art skills, will go along way towards making this an enjoyable and professional Deviant page.

That's all for now... enjoy!
Hi everybody (not to many in the "everybody" category so far, but hopefully that will change eventually)

I really am just getting started here on DA. This is my first journal, and I just put up my first "deviations" up on my channel: a few sunset photos from December of last year. I wanted to lay out my plan for how I am going to be using DA. First, I love photography, and so I am planning on putting up quite a few of my artistic photos, especially my nature photos. I will most likely start with a bunch of photos that I've already taken, and that have been on my computer gathering virtual dust for a while. These won't necessarily be in chronological order, rather they'll be a best of collection of the last year or two.  Then I will showcase some of the more recent photos I've been taking, even a few from this Easter break!

Secondly, I'm going to try to put up a weekly drawing or painting of some sort, either on traditional media, or on the computer. This is a challenge for myself, to force myself to keep creative even when I'm loaded up with schoolwork. I'll be putting up my first drawing tomorrow... I'm gonna try drawing something with an Easter theme. (If I don't get it up, please yell at me... I need the reminder sometimes) :)

Finally, I want to do something else from one of my many interests as the third category that I post. I'm not a premium member yet, so I can't set up a poll as far as I know, but I would like to know what you, my few and loyal fans, would like me to post. I am trying to decide between...

Option (1) - Origami Creations

Option (2) - Photoshop Composites/Creations/Photo-manipulations/Fun (from photo material, not photoshop painting)

Option (3) - Vector artwork in Illustrator

Option (4) - Poetry/Literature of some sort

Please give me your input!

Thanks to those of you friends that are already watching me, and have a blessed Easter break!
